This is actually Foinaven in the remote NW of Scotland. It’s composed of Cambrian Quartzite on a Gneiss base. The Quartz is 500 million years old and shines brightly in the sun. The Lewisian Gneiss is 3000 million years old and is some of the oldest rock in Europe.

    I cannot get over the ground surface being hundreds of millions of years old ….
