Alfred Wainwright’s coast to coast walk starts from St. Bees, just down the coast from here, and finishes over on the East side of the country at Robin Hood’s Bay.

You’ve managed to isolate interesting characters, and the fact of their being near the immensity of the sea give them a striking ‘presence’ (like a good actor on an empty stage).
One can imagine stories…My favourite one is ‘Old Age’.
