Silver Mountain

This is actually Foinaven in the remote NW of Scotland. It’s composed of Cambrian Quartzite on a Gneiss base. The Quartz is 500 million years old and shines brightly in the sun. The Lewisian Gneiss is 3000 million years old and is some of the oldest rock in Europe.

These were taken in a dimly lit coffee shop using available light on Fuji Velvia (50) slide film. Hand held F2.0 at 1/30th sec with a Leica M3 and 50mm Summicron lens. How I love that camera!

Sunset -Whitehaven Harbour

  A couple of evening shots from the sea front at Whitehaven, Cumbria, UK. The land mass behind the lighthouse is Scotland across the Solway Firth.
