Foxglove

Another one from my first roll of Ilford HP5 Plus. I wasn’t sure I liked this at first. We get so used to seeing sharp, clean images (which this certainly isn’t) that my initial reaction was ‘oh, that’s no good’. It took a minute to realise that this is why I enjoy shooting film i.e different films have inherently different characteristics. I shot this wide open on an Olympus OM2(n) with a 50mm/F1.4. It’s not sharp and it’s got grain. It’s also got character. I’m looking forward to the dark evenings rolling in to shoot some night street photography where the subjects will suit this combination.
